The City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks is currently in the process of reviewing and amending the Draft 2007 Elysian Park Master Plan. Prior to 2007 the last Master Plan for Elysian Park was adopted in 1971.
The decision to develop a new master plan in 2007 grew out of the desire of local citizens to preserve and protect this great resource, and, to quote from the Master Plan, “to ‘reweave’ the fabric of Elysian Park; to strengthen pieces in order to revitalize the whole.” This document, prepared by Withers & Sandgren Ltd, was produced through the generous commitment of local elected officials and the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. Extensive input from the EP Master Plan Oversight Committee as well as numerous community meetings informed the process. A refresh of the 2007 DRAFT is currently underway at the urging of the CCSEP.
